Since WIFI wireless has became the trend of modern electronic equipments, Ford VCM II IDS diagnostic system (WIFI VCM II Ford and JLR IDS 2 in 1 and WIFI Ford IDS) adds WIFI function as well.
The VCM II is designed to connect wirelessly to the IDS laptop through a “Point-to-Point” connection, as shown in the picture below. Ford VCM II device is designed with two USB D-link wireless adapters, one is already installed in the VCM II and the other is for IDS laptop connection. No other wireless adapters will work.
Operating system:
Windows XP and Windows 7 O/S with all anti-virus software and firmware program OFF
Tips when connect the Ford IDS WIFI:
IDS software requires the Microsoft Wireless Client to automatically configure a wireless connection between the computer and the VCM II. Otherwise you need the supplied USB cable to use the VCM II. Make sure that you using the Microsoft Wireless Client to manage your computer wireless connection.
Ensure the correct Wireless Client is ON:
Windows XP O/S:
Users must use the Microsoft Wireless Client. Older Dell and Panasonic Toughbook PCs have the Intel PROSet Wireless Client enabled by default >.
Windows 7 O/S:
The Microsoft Wireless Client is enabled by default
VCM II wireless connection should be selected through the Device Selection Tab Figure.
Do not use the PC’s internal wireless connection (shown below) to connect to the VCM II Wireless Adapter.
